Q: ISP 470 - Is the district seeking fiber or DSL?
A: The district is seeking non-fiber solutions.

Q: ISP 470 - Is this service for cellular voice and/or data service requiring SIM card smart phone or tablet?
A: No. The district is seeking fixed ISP connectivity for schools.

Q: Caching 470 - What solution is the district seeking?
A: The district is accepting any and all solutions which provide Internet caching services.

Q: C2 - What are you currently using for your WLAN?
A: We're currently using Meraki APs.

Q: C2 - Is this a new project or expansion?
A: Expansion.

Q: C2 - How many buildings are you looking to install Wi-Fi in?
A: About 350 total.

Q: C2 - Any sort of initiatives (guest access, 1:1, BYOD)?
A: Currently, there are no formalized initiatives.

Q: C2 - Is there a specific bid or walk-through date?
A: Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Q: C2 - Is there time for product demos?
A: Requests will be made to vendors if product demos are needed.

Q: ISP 470 - This this 470 issued to replace a contract coming to an end or is it to sustain E-rate funding for an existing contract?
A: The 470 is for new services.

Q: Caching - How saturated is the Internet connection?
A: On average, daily utilization ranges from 150-175 Mbps.

Q: Caching - Any other Internet connections at the district?
A: No.

Q: Caching - What is the throughput at the elementary schools?
A: 11 of 12 schools connect back to datacenter (ISP) at 10GB.

Q: Caching - It looks like you're looking for a caching solution deployed at your DO only, correct?
A: It depends. The DO serves as the datacenter and ISP for schools. If the technology solution fits that topology, then the answer is yes.

Q: Caching - When will you need support for 10GB?
A: Our road map calls for upgrading to 10GB by Dec 2015 (from firewall to ISP).

Q: Caching - How many websites do you plan to cache at any given time?
A: As many as possible.

Q: Caching - How many students/endpoints will this solution be supporting?
A: Initially, 2000. With plans to double it every year, for three years.

Q: Caching - What sites/updates are you looking to cache?
A: GAFE, Office 365, SBAC Testing, SBAC web resources.

Q: C2 - Would you like to standardize to a 48-port full POE switch like the WS-C2960? (The stacking modules would not be included unless requested)
A: Please review the ECESD Wired Inventory located in the section below. We would like to standardize to 48-port full or half POE at every MDF/IDF, using stacking modules if multiple switches reside in the same cabinet, with the exception of Kinder locations. Kinder locations only need 24-port full POE switches.

Q: C2 - Do we require a new switch for each MDF and IDF location?
A: With the exception of the Cisco 4500x's, we would like to standardize to new MDF and IDF switches.

Q: C2 - Should the proposal include 10G optics for the core and the edge?
A: Yes. The proposal should include single mode 10G optics for the core and the edge.
